Britannia Nutri-Choice’s Simply Lite


You gotta love the name – Simply Lite. This is Britannia’s marketing at its best. Britannia has a range of biscuits under the name “Nutri-Choice,” implying that the biscuits have some nutrition value. It also says “Honestly Good” cracker on the cover — honest about what? In no way is this cracker light, either in terms of calories or on your stomach. It isn’t sweet so it tastes like it is on the healthy side, even better than a Marie biscuit but that doesn’t mean that it is good for you or it doesn’t contain sugar.

Let’s examine the ingredients:

Refined Wheat Flour, Edible Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Yeast, Salt, Milk Solids, Emulsifier, Malt Extracts and Raising Agent.

The first 3 ingredients tells you all you need to know…maida, unspecified oil and sugar. This is a lethal combination for the body. A couple of crackers once in a while won’t do you harm but these crackers should not be something you or your family should be eating on a regular basis.

Three crackers have 105 calories but this isn’t enough for a filling snack, so it really isn’t worth eating them.  The entire 100 gram pack is 438 calories which is a significant amount of extra and unhealthy calories.
